The organizers of the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo have proposed 18 new events, including 8 Karate events. According to the agenda of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), a host city can nominate new sports for the games.
Karate is nominated with 2 Kata and 6 Kumite disciplines ( men and women, each with three weight classes).
The final decision will be made at the IOC Session in August 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
